The Los Angeles Lakers recently introduced their new center, Brook Lopez. For Lopez, he calls playing for the Lakers ‘A dream come true’.

Just prior to the 2017 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a big trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The deal sent D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Nets in exchange for Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in the draft.

While this move was likely made to get rid of the awful contract of Timofey Mozgov, what might have been overshadowed was the nice return the Nets got for the Russell and Mozgov.

With all due respect to Russell and Mozgov, Lopez was clearly the best player involved in the trade as of now. While Russell might be a great player one day, Lopez has already proven that he is one of the best offensive centers in the NBA.

Since dealing with some injuries early on in his career, Lopez turned into a star for the Nets. Last season, Lopez averaged 20.5 points per game, which was his second straight season of scoring at least 20 points per game.

One of the things that helped Lopez reach that mark was his newly found three-point shot. As a post player for most of his career, the addition of a three-point shot has helped round out Lopez’s offensive game. Now, he can hurt defenders in multiple ways on offense. He has shown an ability to adapt to the changing style of the NBA.

In his introductory press conference, Lopez couldn’t have been happier to be a member of the Lakers.

With a great history of big men before him, Lopez will be attempting to help the Lakers take another step forward in the 2017-18 season. Even though the Lakers aren’t title contenders by any means, leaving the mess that was the Nets will certainly put a smile on Lopez’s face.
