With NBA Free Agency in full swing, there have been plenty of Lakers rumors in recent weeks. Could Kyle Korver be a free agent target for Los Angeles?

Recent Lakers rumors indicate that they aren’t in the market for any big time players in this year’s free agency. As Magic Johnson told Spectrum SportsNet, they’re only going to ‘sign one or two guys and they will be guys that fill a need for us’.

Kyle Korver of the Cleveland Cavaliers could fill L.A.’s need for a perimeter shooter and signing him wouldn’t hurt the Lakers’ bottom line which is to save their cap space for 2018.

Sam Amico of Amico Hoops reports that L.A. is on a list of teams interested in the 36-year-old vet for his shooting ability.

"The San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers also have an interest in Korver. Cleveland.com added the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans to that list."

Because Korver’s championship window is closing, it’s likely he will re-sign with the Cavaliers. With LeBron James in town and being in the Eastern Conference, it keeps Korver in contention for that ever elusive first NBA title. Considering the Cavaliers have interest in keeping him it would be shocking if he signed elsewhere.

That won’t stop the Lakers from eyeing him, however, because he’s not a player that would require a max contract and that’s attractive to L.A. Not to mention the fact Korver is a good complimentary piece with an expertise that has lengthened his career. Given an opportunity, the Lakers likely wouldn’t sign him for more than two years in an effort to save spending for 2018.

Although Korver to Los Angeles is doubtful seeing as the Lakers are rebuilding and Cleveland is in win-now mode, his services are still worth L.A. reaching out to him.
