The Los Angeles Lakers have selected Talen Horton-Tucker with the 46th pick. Here are three reasons to like the pick.

After making a big splash to start the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers weren’t expected to big major players in the first round of the NBA Draft.

Due to the trade for Anthony Davis that has been agreed upon, the Lakers sent their 4th overall pick to the New Orleans Pelicans. With a ton of young talent coming back, the Pelicans elected to trade that 4th pick to acquire even more assets.

A lot of credit has to go to David Griffin for getting a lot out of both the Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks in both deals. Now, we will wait and see if the deals are combined into a three-team trade so the Lakers can dump some of their contracts off on the Hawks.

Since the Lakers don’t have a ton of depth as of now, it was widely expected that they would be active in trying to acquire a 2nd round pick. The Lakers were certainly able to do so, as they got the rights to Talen Horton-Tucker with the 46th overall pick.

While Horton-Tucker might not be as NBA ready as some would have liked, he is young and talented. With some hard work and good coaching, Horton-Tucker can become a solid NBA player.

As the only draft pick of the Lakers this season, here are three reasons to like the Horton-Tucker selection.
