Ron Artest in a Joking Mood after Loss
So, how did Ron Artest deal with the crushing 109-99 defeat in Houston last night? Well, he dealt with it the Ron Ron way. What exactly might that be, you ask? By calling a local radio show and pretending to be Luis Scola.
You can listen to the entire exchange here.
Taking a page right out of the Derek Anderson School of dealing with an embarrassing loss, Artest didn’t even try to disguise his voice initially. On top of it all, he said he (as Scola) was going to “celebrate by eating Spanish food.” Which I’m sure can be found somewhere in Scola’s native Argentina but my guess is he’d prefer asado with a frothing mate to wash down all that grilled meat.
Phil Jackson has mastered handling head cases but this is a new level of indifference. Now, nobody is saying Artest doesn’t care about winning but he sure has an awkward way of dealing with the current state of affairs.
I’m all for keeping it loose but this might be a little too far gone for Kobe Bryant’s taste. Then again, who in the Laker locker room is going to pull Artest aside and tell him he’s in the wrong?
After all, don’t they know who he is?
