If Mitch Kupchak thinks the Lakers need more help to get back into the playoff picture then he’s got an additional $1.8-million available to spend on a free agent. That’s what the Lakers were granted by the NBA after applying for a disabled player exception once Jordan Hill was shutdown for the season due to hip surgery.
Of course the stipulations of the exception doesn’t exactly allow for the Lake Show to add a key contributor as said player must be in the final year of their contract. However it does allow for a little more wiggle room in a potential trade.
But if you believe Kupchak and his misled boss Jim Buss they’ll tell you the problems with this team can be solved by simply trying harder. So in that case don’t expect much to come of this.
