Nash has already stated he’ll likely be retiring after playing out his current contract. The Lakers likely knew that when they agreed upon a 3-year deal, which leads me to believe they’re committed to Nash. Despite his injuries last year, Nash still nearly had a 50-40-90 season, showing how efficient he still is and can be. While he was relegated to a spot-up shooter at times last year, I expect a more ball-dominant form of Nash, with more playmaking and more shot-taking.

Nash’s biggest problem for the Lakers is his large contract. It’s unsure if his injury problems last year was a fluke or a sign of what’s to come. Either way, the Lakers are on the books for his $9.3 million next year and I’d be shocked if someone took that contract of their hands. Let’s just hope for the old (or young?) Nash instead of the one from last year.

VERDICT: Steve Nash will be a Laker in 2014-15
