Nick Young didn’t wait long to show his feast or famine play style. On Saturday, he dazzled fans with an array of crossovers and nice footwork en route to 17 first-half points. His 4 of 9 shooting from the field and 8 of 8 free throw shooting is about as good as it gets with Young, who sat out the second half. Young left defenders reaching on more than one occasion and got numerous fouls on jump shots, another intriguing aspect of his game.
The following night, Young went a woeful 4 of 16 from the field and get to the line just once as he finished with just 9 points. While the effort was still there, Young wasn’t as under control nor composed, resulting in a technical foul for kicking the ball. But even then, fans were behind him. The effort was still there, he was still attacking the rim, but wasn’t getting the same calls.
What we learned, though, is that Young, or Swaggy P as his Twitter name goes, will be a fan favorite. He wants to be in Los Angeles and he’s played hard both nights. In a basketball city like LA, it won’t go unnoticed and fans will get behind Young.
