PF – Carmelo Anthony
C – Chris Bosh
Notable Bench: Jodie Meeks, Nick Young,
After a year of watching the Lakers offense hit and miss on a nightly basis, the front office commits to finding a dominant offensive squad. They start by bringing back some of the effective players from the year before in Farmar, Bryant, Meeks, and Young. In order to sign some younger talent, they allow Gasol to walk.
With a chance to find the perfect heir to the throne, Kobe goes hard at recruiting Carmelo, and is successful. With the market low on Gay, the Lakers find themselves a steal. Still seeking a big man with offensive talent, the Lakers zero in on Chris Bosh. As the odd man out in Miami, Bosh’s desire for a max contract isn’t met and he is left looking elsewhere for employment. Kobe, Carmelo, and Gay come calling and bring in Bosh to LA, giving them a dynamic, high-scoring offense.
