As long as the Lakers have had an offensive identity, they’ve had an identity of being an older squad. In reality, since they brought in Bryant, they haven’t had a young talent worth hanging on to (with few exceptions). With a slew of talented youngsters on the market as restricted free agents this summer, the Lakers could focus on them instead of the big name free agents.

Namely, both Eric Bledsoe and Gordon Hayward couldn’t come to terms on an agreement with their respective teams. If the Lakers want to get young, there’s no better way than to throw some big money at these youngsters. Add in the possibility of someone like Greg Monroe in the mix, and the Lakers could completely reshape their future.

Add in the likes of their current young core, and the Lakers could set themselves up for a decade of success.
