Most teams would kill for their starting center to average 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, but more is expected of Gasol especially with Kobe Bryant out with injury. Gasol’s field goal percentage, at .419%, is the worst of his career. His ineffectiveness has hurt the Lakers most in fourth quarters as it has sorely missed a go to crunch time scorer to finish off close games. His field goal shooting has declined every season of his Lakers’ career which is worrisome if you’re considering resigning him in the off-season. Gasol still has value, his passing is the best at the center position, and his rebounding is solid. He may no longer be a second option but after years of carrying a heavy burden and much wear and tear, that is to be expected.
