The 2014 NBA Draft, A Different Take #1 Through #5
By Mike Garcia
While the rankings may come as a surprise, it’s a reflection of why the NBA draft can be considered a crapshoot. Elite NBA athletes like James White can barely hang onto a roster, while guys like Steve Nash have received multiple MVP awards entirely based on his motor and skill level. The rankings also reflect the importance of the defensive end as well. Some franchises place greater emphasis on that than others. Drafting any one of these players would make any franchise happy, knowing they each acquired a potential franchise player for years to come. Some players are proven. Some players have greater upside. Some players have a little of both. This is all of what makes the 2014 NBA draft so interesting.
