Minnesota also sends New Orlean’s 2nd round draft pick to Lakers

Minnesota badly needs a backup center with Nikola Pekovic out. With Gorgui Dieng and Ronny Turiaf their only options right now, they lock any offensive punch from their center position. Chris Kaman certainly excels on the offensive end and would complement Kevin Love.

From the Lakers perspective, Dante Cunningham is a player they’ve expressed interest toward in the past. Straight up, this wouldn’t be an even trade, with Kaman a much better player than Cunningham. LA would also net a 2nd round pick, which is great considering their lack of one this year. They’d also get about a two month trial for Cunningham to determine his possible future with the team.

CHANCES OF TRADE HAPPENING: 70%. Call me crazy, but this trade makes perfect sense for both sides. Kaman is unhappy with his inconsistent playing time in LA and Minnesota needs an offensive big man off the bench to make a playoff push.
