8. Detroit Pistons – Marcus Smart, G, Oklahoma State
The Pistons are in a bad, bad position. After committing so many millions in recent years to the likes of Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, and Charlie Villenueva, their inclusion in the draft lottery is a bad omen. However, it could be a blessing in disguise. Smart is a player who can play both guard positions, but more importantly, can be the primary ballhandler for a team that relied far too heavily on Jennings making decisions last season.
7. Sacramento Kings – Noah Vonleh, F/C, Indiana
I’ve done quite a few mock drafts for this draft class, and I keep finding myself matching the Kings with Noah Vonleh. With DeMarcus Cousins already set in stone, Vonleh makes too much sense. Vonleh can provide a big man that Cousins never had, and the duo can grow together and possibly become a dominant force in the paint. The only concern is if such a young player can be negatively influenced by someone like Cousins.
