What if he doesn’t reach his potential?

It may be difficult for Aaron Gordon not to reach his potential.  There are too many coaches that rave about his work ethic.  But, if the worst happens, chances are, Aaron Gordon becomes a Shane Battier-type of combo forward. Battier was well-known for his 3-point range and defense coming out of Duke. Gordon provides similar defensive IQ, only, he would be more adept to finishing around the paint while still developing 3-point range.  People forget that even Shane Battier was drafted #6 in his class, and was a key role player for multiple teams, including the championship team Miami Heat.

Right now, he’s an 18-year-old player who finished his freshman year at Arizona, an elite NCAA team.  He’ll be expected to be a role player early on, but later down in his career with improving offensive capabilities, he may become a strong, face-up power forward from the high-post, that also has 3-point range and playmaking ability better than most at his position.
