The Case for Noah Vonleh
By Mike Garcia
What is Noah Vonleh’s upside?
Noah Vonleh is in a unique situation. Out of high school, he was a perimeter oriented power forward or small forward, who liked to face up players and attacking defenders off-the-dribble. With great shooting touch added, he kept defenders on their heels. Heading into Indiana, he attempted to transform his game into a traditional, back-to-the-basket, power forward. He was clearly more comfortable attacking from the perimeter. Those who watched him, thought of player comparisons of Lamar Odom or Chris Bosh.
Vonleh can be a Chris Bosh-type of power forward, only with more strength. If he gets to the roots of his natural talent and uses his surprisingly advanced ball-handling more purposefully, he can be an excellent stretch-four at the NBA level, also capable of defending centers with solid bulk and great wingspan. A bigger Chris-Bosh? Every team would love to have that.
