Here’s the good stuff; 6’8.5″, 7’1.75″ wingspan, 5.5% body fat, 247lbs. Here’s the bad stuff; 8’7.5″ standing reach. Julius Randle gets a lot of grief for having a standing reach of 8’9.5″, but here’s Patric Young. He’s taller. He has a longer wingspan. He’s stronger than Randle. He has the standing reach of a shooting guard. James Young, a projected mid-1st round pick, is just over 6’5″ with a 7′ wingspan. His standing reach is at 8’8″. Add to the fact that Young’s skill level at the offensive end is very basic, and he becomes the most intimidating enforcer in the paint. He just can’t do that much with the basketball yet. He’s not a threat behind the 3-point line. He’s not a threat from midrange. With that standing reach, he may not be a threat in the painted area.
