The Lakers lacked depth at the center position. It looks like they have a starting center. His name is Ed Davis.
Ed Davis is a good contributor. He is the opposite of Sacre, which allows the Lakers to adjust to the game as necessary. Robert Sacre plays better in a half court set with power. Ed Davis likes to get out in transition and swat shots. They are complementary players.
It’s also possible for Ed Davis to play some power forward. Last year he averaged nearly 6 points and 4 rebounds in just 15 minutes per game. He is nimble around the paint and likes to finish with a soft touch.
It also happens to fit within the Lakers’ plans for 2016.
