For many years, the Lakers have been enamored with Beasley. Multiple times, while Beasley was with the Timberwolves and Suns, the Lakers were rumored to have interest in trading for the swingman.
However, Beasley has never blossomed into the talent most expected him to be. Last season, with the Heat, he was used sparingly, partially due to injury. For a Lakers team that needs a defensive small forward, Beasley is the exact opposite. However, no other player on the market within the Lakers price range has the offensive capabilities of Beasley.
A starting lineup with Lin, Kobe, Beasley, Boozer, and Hill would be interesting, if nothing else. It would not lack in offensive firepower. However, Beasley remains a high-risk signing giving his past run-ins with the law and his enigmatic attitude.
