Power Forwards – Kevin Love, Anthony Davis

Coach K’s personal preference is often to load up on wing and perimeter players and limit the amount of big men. In 2008, he did just that bringing only Carlos Boozer, Dwight Howard, and Chris Bosh. Given the chance, I think he’d prefer that, especially considering the talent he’d have at his disposal.

The question here would be who starts. Right now, Kevin Love is likely the option (if not LeBron or Durant as a stretch four), but Anthony Davis is coming quickly. In two years time, Davis may surpass Love and become one of the premier players on this team. In that scenario, he may force Coach K’s hand, depending on the roster, and make him start him.

Centers – Dwight Howard

At his best, Howard is far and away America’s best center. I would imagine this is Coach K’s ideal choice in Love, Davis, and Howard. Imagine the possibilities with Howard low and Love as a stretch four. Better yet, imagine the defense down low with Howard and Davis together. Seriously, it’s mouth-watering.

However, Howard hasn’t shown much interest in Team USA since the 2008 Olympics, and I’d rate this as very unlikely to happen. Instead, Davis would likely play time at center with the likes of DeMarcus Cousins and Andre Drummond being likely replacements. Depending on Drummond’s development, he may force his way onto the team as well.
