Nick Young “trying to be an all-around player”
By Jacob Rude
The brightest spot in the Lakers doom and gloom season last year was Nick Young, who emerged as a team leader and the brightest offensive weapon for the purple and gold.
After a big extension this summer, Swaggy P spent most of the summer working out with fellow star Kobe Bryant and talked to Byron Scott about improving his role this season and the next step in his game. He shared what Scott and he discussed on ESPN710 radio during Lakers media day.
"On next step in his game“I’m trying to be an all-around player. He [Byron Scott] said I got all-star talent, but gotta play the other end and get your conditioning up. I grew up watching offensively minded player watching Kobe and Iverson”"
Young also revealed he worked out with Bryant most of the summer, talking about how Bryant has looked (paraphrased).
"On Kobe Bryant and their workoutsI worked out with Kobe majority of summer, and being around that man with the expectations he’s got. Kobe looked good. He taught a little bit of the secrets. I said I only needed 25%. He was showing me the rest."
In typical Swaggy P fashion, he left the interview with the great one-liner. When asked about his extension and his seemingly team-friendly deal:
"I wanted to be here. I didn’t wanna go to Milwaukee or nothing. There’d be no more Swaggy P"
Stay Swaggy, Nick Young.
