5 Trades That Could Turn The Lakers Into Contenders

This last one is a reach. However, Eric Gordon could be had for the right price. The Pelicans have a bit of a logjam in the back court, currently playing with Tyreke Evans at small forward. Gordon is the one most likely to be moved, and he has been on the trading block for the last couple seasons. The Lakers could come and swoop in and take a risk on Gordon who, when healthy, is a star. However, staying healthy hasn’t been the easiest for him.

The biggest get in this trade for the Pelicans is the first round pick. Adding Lin is mainly a cap filler, but would give them a great point guard off the bench, or even a possible starter if they’re comfortable starting him aside Evans and Jrue Holiday. Henry will be a great addition off the bench to help fill in Gordon’s minutes, assuming full health.

The Lakers get Gordon for a big contract for two years, but he’s instantly the second best player on the team beside Bryant. If he’s healthy, like he was with the Clippers, he could be a stud. However, it’s a big risk for the Lakers given his injury concerns and the cap room he’ll take up.
