Official: Lakers waive Jabari Brown and Roscoe Smith
By Harry Burden
It’s official, folks: the Lakers have waived guard Jabari Brown and forward Roscoe Smith, officially reducing the tally of their roster to fifteen, the limit given to teams heading into an NBA season.
The Lakers picked up the rookies late in the month of September after the pair failed to find a permanent home during June’s NBA draft. Despite Brown and Smith’s game time during the Summer League (the Rockets’ and Lakers’ groups, respectively), both are once again on the hunt for willing suitors after it was made clear that their talents were not needed in Los Angeles.
Brown appeared in four preseason games for the Purple and Gold; he gathered five points, two rebounds and an assist in 22 minutes of action.
Smith took to the floor in seven of the Lakers’ eight preseason fixtures, averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in said contests.
Their roster is now complete at fifteen ahead of Tuesday night’s opening fixture against the Rockets.
