Lakers Roundtable: Jeremy Lin In Or Out Of Starting Lineup?

4 of 5

Should Carlos Boozer close games late in the 4th quarter?

Patterson: Boozer should not close late games. I would rather see Ed Davis and Jordan Hill in the game. Hill has been better on offense than Boozer has this year, and Davis is 100 times better on the defensive end.

I think if we have Kobe, Hill, and Nick Young (when healthy), we should be able to produce some crunch time buckets. But we also have to get stops late in the game, and Boozer will not help us at all on defense. He has been atrocious on defensive this year, and I believe having Davis protecting the paint late in games will help us be successful in the fourth quarter.

Morales: Boozer should only play in the 4th quarter if the Lakers are down to 4 active players. Oops. Hope I didn’t continue injury jinx.

Sanchez: I think Carlos Boozer should close out games, but only depending on the situation. If the Lakers are ahead and need defensive stops, I don’t think Boozer is the right guy to have out there. If the team is down and can use a quick basket or two in the paint, or the team needs offensive rebounding, then Boozer should probably be in the game.

Rude: The more Boozer plays, the more I believe that Byron Scott is in on the Lakers tanking. Boozer has provided very little for the Lakers this year, yet still gets minutes. No, I don’t think he should be closing late games. We know that Bryant is going to go hero ball at the end of games, so putting Davis and Hill in to clean up the offensive boards is our best bet.
