Lakers: What To Watch For Against Charlotte Hornets
By Jacob Rude
3. Knock Down Free Throws
Late in the game against Phoenix, the Lakers trailed by single digits, yet had missed double digit free throws. In a game decided late, the Lakers could have had the lead had they not went 30-41 from the line.
Clearly, LA is getting to the line. They are 3rd in the league with 31.6 free throws attempted a game, but 18th in free throw percentage at 75.9%. For a Lakers squad in such dire need of a win, knocking down their free throws has to be nearly priority #1.
Most notably, Bryant has struggled at the line. He’s getting their nearly nine times a game, but shooting just 75% at the charity stripe. To put that into context, Bryant has shot under 80% from the line just once in his career, his second season when he shot 79.4%.
Getting to the line is one thing. Converting at the line is another. The Lakers have done the former well and now must improve on the latter.
