Another roster move involving cutting a player, this one a little bit easier to do. When the Lakers signed Price, it was a bit of a head-scratcher. Price was a journeyman point guard who has never been an offensive threat. While the Lakers needed insurance for Steve Nash, Price may not have been the right guy.

All Price has done this year is reaffirm his offensive inefficiencies. In 22 minutes a game, while he’s averaging 4.4 assists, he’s scoring just 4.0 points on 26.2% shooting from the field and 15% from the three-point line. Abysmal.

Price’s selling point was his great defensive ability. This year, he’s done nothing on the defensive end to warrant all the hype, likely well past his prime. While he 1.5 steals per game, that hardly makes up for the offensive struggles.

Cutting Price also makes room for rookie point guard Jordan Clarkson to see more minutes, which is vital to his development. While some may argue he isn’t ready for more minutes, in order for him to progress, he needs minutes in NBA action to adjust his game and continue to improve it. In order to do that, you must cut Price.
