Lakers: Takeaways from Embarrassing Loss To Celtics

Jeremy Lin‘s inconsistency continues

This is good and bad.  After three straight poor shooting nights for Jeremy Lin, including a 0-10 outing against the Wizards, Jeremy Lin showed us that he is not all that bad.  Last night he finished with 14 points, in only 19 minutes.  Deep into the second quarter, Lin was yet to made a field-goal, and it was looking as if Ronnie Price would play a majority of the second half, again.

Lin came out in the second half and reminded us why we thought Lin could be the future point guard for the Lakers.  Lin has been very inconsistent this year.  He has had two games where he scored 0 points in at least 20 minutes of play, and has had six different games in which he made 1 or less field goal.

Then there have been the games where Lin looks like at least a “good” point guard for this league’s standards.  Being guarded by some of the best perimeter defenders in the league, Lin went into attack mode early in the second half, getting to the rack without hesitation.

This basket came on Avery Bradley, the leagues’ best on-ball defender.  I don’t see why Lin doesn’t do this more often.  Perhaps bringing Lin off the bench will give him a better opportunity to be the primary ball handler and get his confidence up.
