4. Behind-the-back reverse dunk vs. Nuggets
You’ll be hard pressed to find a highlight reel for Bryant that doesn’t feature this dunk. Seriously one of the greatest displays of athleticism, basketball ability, IQ, and everything wrapped into one. This is easily one of Bryant’s defining moments and defining plays.
3. Banked-in three-pointer vs. Heat
Again, you won’t find a highlight reel without this play in it. Much like the last dunk was everything great about younger Bryant, this is the epitome of veteran Bryant. His ability to hit absurd shots is second-to-none and this one is about as absurd as it gets. Running one-handed off-the-glass with one of the elite defenders in the league in your face? Not a problem!
2. Free throws vs. Warriors
At the time of this play, fans were unaware at the extent of Bryant’s injury. It was clear he was hobbled walking back to the huddle and it was only on his return trip to the court did you realize it was serious. Instead of milking it and walking off the court, Bryant walked to the line and essentially hit two one-footed free throws at a crucial point both in the season and in the game. If the Lakers don’t win this game, they likely don’t make the playoffs, but more importantly, this shoes Bryant’s insane will power.
1. Buzzer beater vs. Suns
Nothing will surpass this moment for me in Bryant’s history. This is his absolute prime, where he carried a team of no-names into the playoffs and very nearly won them the first round series against the Suns thanks to this shot. It’s his pinnacle moment, in a big-time game, in a big-time moment, with everything on the line.
Man I’ll miss this guy.
