We’ll first start off with a couple teams that might be interested in acquiring Lin for a playoff run, starting with the Grizzlies.
Memphis currently sits with the 2nd best record in the West, but could be looking for someone to put them over the top. Tonight’s contest against the Warriors will be a nice barometer of their expectations this year. Nonetheless, they could use some scoring off the bench, a role that Lin has flourished in most recently.
As is, the Grizz’s top scorer off the bench is Tayshaun Prince, averaging just 7.6 points. Back-up point guard Beno Udrih is averaging 7.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.9 minutes. Bringing Lin in offers the Grizz’s second unit some stability and scoring.
With the Grizzlies having few contracts that expire this summer, figuring out the finances would be a bit tricky, but something like Kosta Koufos and possibly their 2nd round pick for Lin, the Lakers could be intrigued. It’d be hard to imagine a team giving up a first round pick for Lin, but depending on what they see in the point guard, they could be bargained into it.
