Kobe Needs to Evolve.

Bryant recently stated he’s a natural scorer, but that his game can evolve.

Just like Kobe’s leadership style has modified slightly, so has his desire to learn new ways of thinking/producing. Take for instance his work off the court visiting the Apple Headquarters, a class at Boston College and calling Oprah for advice.

This is Bryant’s final chapter in the NBA and he is preparing for life after basketball. His hunger for growth off-the-court is translating to his on-the-court game by recognizing he needs to be more of a distributer and teacher that empowers his teammates.

Give Kobe some credit. It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks and in pro basketball terms, he’s ancient.

Lakers fans tend to refer to Bryant in past terms, which is why superstars shouldn’t be afraid of joining forces with him now. Let me explain.

Kobe is on his way out, so whomever the next torch bearers are, they can learn from him for a season or two, then get the keys to the car. It’s the perfect setup.

Learn from the best, then have the opportunity to lead on your own. Critics continue to highlight Kobe’s flaws while he continues to break records.

The Future is Now.

Whether you’re a “reload through trades/free agency” or “tank for the draft” Lakers fan, things will change soon.

Regardless of when Kobe retires a new era in Lakers basketball is upon us. We all have our wish list of who we want as a Future Laker, but only time will tell who dawns the purple and gold. This season’s team was not put together to last. It’s a transition season, where expendable pieces will be traded for upgrades and there are multiple possibilities for 2015.

Although the recent past doesn’t give us much hope for the future, it only takes a couple of pivotal moves and the Lakers can be back in contention very soon.

Each decade the Lakers experience down years, but they always bounce back to the top.

It may be dark in Lakerland currently, but 2015 will be the year of ascension.
