24 Reasons Kobe Bryant Is Better Than Michael Jordan

18. MVP Chants in Celtics Arena

Getting MVP chants at home? Simple. Even Nick Young can do that. Getting MVP chants on the road? That’s saved for the greatest of players in the league. Getting MVP chants at your rival? That’s about as unheard as anything.

A Laker getting MVP chants in Boston? Get outta here.

But Bryant did just that. In the middle of his prime, in Boston, in a close game, Bryant sealed the deal like he had so many times before. This time, with the Celtics in pre-Big 3 days and struggling mightily, the Garden was full of enough Lakers fan and disgruntled Boston fans that the MVP chants rose (you can faintly hear them about 15 seconds into the video).

The chants were quickly drowned out by boos, but the damage was done (and recorded). For Jordan, whose Bulls didn’t have anywhere near the rival that the Celtics-Lakers have. The only thing comparable would be MVP chants in Indiana in the late 90s, but even that doesn’t compare to the rivalry of Boston and LA.
