4. Ed Davis
No player showed more upside in the preseason than Ed Davis. Davis showed off his elite athleticism, and his 100% effort early in the season, earning him a starting spot. Davis is the team’s leading shot blocker at 1.2 per game, and second leading rebounder. A quarter into the season, Davis looked like arguably the team’s second best player.
When it comes to advanced statistics, Ed Davis absolutely dominates nearly all categories measuring a player’s impact on the floor. Davis leads the team in win shares, defensive plus-minus, offensive plus-minus, and overall plus-minus. There is no doubt that Davis brings a positive energy when he is on the floor.
Davis has been the best surprise this season. Although he still lacks shooting ability and post moves, he is a great finisher around the basket, and the most active defender on the team. Signing Ed Davis to a 2 year, 2 million dollar deal was definitely a steal.
