Lakers: The Search for All-Star Talent through the NBA Draft
By Mike Garcia
The Kentucky freshman is full of upside, but has a great foundation of skills on both ends of the floor. Not only does he have good size at a legit 6’10” with a 7’3″ wingspan, but he has the motor, quickness, and strength to occupy either the center or power forward position. He is solid at putting the ball on the floor and attacking from the high post area, as well as showing range out to 20′. While he lacks perimeter consistency from range, his free throw percentage at 78% is an indicator of jumpshot from distance. He has a solid jump hook from the low post area, and likes to counter with a fade away jumpshot. Unlike Okafor, he’s light-footed, which allows him to be a more effective defender in isolation situations, as well as pick-and-roll situations along the perimeter.
