Lakers: The Search for All-Star Talent through the NBA Draft

Mario Hezonja

Who is Mario Hezonja?  While the Lakers missed any kind of chance to land Klay Thompson, there is a chance to draft a player just like him.  Mario plays for Barcelona for limited minutes, but his shooting form, quick release, and ability to shoot lights out from the perimeter had him shoot up the draft radar.  At 6’8″, he’s also capable of playing the small forward position. While European players are stereotypically known to play “soft”, Hezonja is not afraid of contact and is not only willing to attack the basket, but also fight players off post position on the defensive end. He thrives on physical play.  Surprisingly, he has agile feet and good length, which leaves good potential on the defensive end to play multiple positions.  However, the NBA thrives on guard play and perimeter shooting, and Hezonja has those skills in spades.
