Lakers: The Search for All-Star Talent through the NBA Draft

Willie Cauley-Stein

Did you watch the video?  That one athletic play is a reflection of Willie Cauley-Stein’s athletic upside.  The standout 4-star ranked high school wide receiver took his athleticism to the NBA floor. After a solid season playing alongside Julius Randle for Kentucky last year, he has thrived with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and over 2 blocks in just under 24 minutes per game this season, on a team loaded with McDonald’s All-American talent.  Overall, he has a frame very similar to Tyson Chandler in terms of height, wingspan, frame, and ability to run the floor. Yet, he has shown an extra notch of athleticism that made remind people of how DeAndre Jordan finishes plays for the Los Angeles Clippers.  He can be a bit foul prone, but he thrives on transition play. His relentless motor and attention to doing the dirty work with elite athleticism may be too much to pass up.
