2. Phoenix Suns
Contrary to the first trade, this trade is more of an improvement than selling off assets to worsen the team and acquiring draft picks. As we recently noted today, Dragic is apparently available for trade and the Lakers are rumored suitors. In this deal, they’d have to include Houston’s first-round pick to sweeten the pot. Hill could come in and play in Phoenix’s high-energy system and offer them a an extra boost in the playoff race.
For the Lakers, this is obviously a risky situation, as trading for Dragic would mean losing one of your first-round picks and could run the possibility of the Lakers improving so much that they lose out on retaining their own first-round pick. If Dragic comes in and helps the Lakers win substantially more games, the Lakers are running the risk of being without any picks, and there’s no guarantee they can retain him this summer in free agency.
