Not for Karl-Anthony Towns, however. This in an interview with Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony:
"As a little kid, you always just want to be part of the NBA, the greatest fraternity in the world… I just want to be able to have my name play in the NBA and be able to wear a jersey with my name on the back. That’s the biggest thing, I don’t care where I play."
Towns’ statements mirror those that typically accompany a prospect’s month leading up to the draft. I wrote recently that the Wolves had to worry about some of the statements coming from top prospects, so Towns’ comments should douse that fire at least slightly in the sense that such a sentiment isn’t as rampant as they might’ve thought.
Only issue is: the statement came from the prospect Minnesota GM Flip Saunders is leaning away from, according to ESPN’s Chad Ford. So, for those of you keeping track at home, Minnesota wants Okafor, who prefers Los Angeles, who probably prefers Towns.
