1. Magic Johnson
The most versatile player in history takes the top spot here. With incredible vision, mismatch size, and a well-rounded game, Magic Johnson would be dominant in any era. Winning five rings in a shortened career against historic competition cements his status as the best of all-time.
2. Michael Jordan
The Bulls legend comes in at number two on this list. One of the most dominant players to ever play the game, his six rings and incredible athleticism make him a staple of any list of the league’s greatest players.
3. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
The most prolific scorer in the history of the league comes in at number three on this list. Part of the historic Showtime Lakers and the creator of one of the most iconic shots in NBA history, Kareem’s accomplishments dwarf even those of other legends.
4. Kobe Bryant
The man of the hour comes in at number four on this list. An incredible scorer who established himself as one of the most clutch players in the history of the league, Bryant worked his way to becoming the third leading scorer of all-time. Now in his final season, it’s an honor to watch this legend say goodbye to a game he has meant so much to.
5. Larry Bird
One of the Lakers’ greatest rivals is also one of the top five players of all time. Larry Bird’s smooth stroke and impressive passing made him a worthy foe for the show-time Lakers during the strongest era in basketball history.
6. Tim Duncan
The epitome of consistency, the big fundamental has been the center piece of a seemingly eternal dynasty in San Antonio. Selflessness and humility, combined with extreme competitiveness, make Duncan not only one of the best team-mates in NBA history, but also one of the best players.
7. Shaquille O’Neal
The most powerful force in the history of the NBA, Shaq would be higher on this list had he sustained his play and physical conditioning for longer. Still with incredible size and strength, O’Neal was able to completely dominate the competition for a period of several years. The level of dominance he demonstrated is what lands him on this list.
8. Hakeem Olajuwon
Hakeem was one of the most proficient post players in league history. He had many post moves in his arsenal, none more effective or famous than the legendary “Dream Shake”. This post scoring savant lands at number 8 of the greatest NBA players.
9. Julius Erving
Despite playing the beginning of his career in the ABA, Erving still cracks the top ten of NBA players. During his time in the NBA the small-forward appeared in the all-star game 11 times and even beat the Lakers to win the NBA championship.
10. LeBron James
One of the greatest athletes in NBA history, James has been a perennial all-star since appearing in the league and could rise even higher with continued success.
