3. Lakers Can Lose to Anybody

This is a depressing reality that the Lakers faced on just the first game of the eight-game road trip, but they are a bad enough team with an inept enough head coach that they can lose to anyone on any given night. After all, the Philadelphia 76ers have one total win on the 2015-16 season to this point and that was over—you guessed it—the Lakers to open LA’s road trip.

Even if things start trending in a more positive direction for the Lakers as the season wears on with the young players becoming more comfortable and more deft at handling the challenges of the NBA, this is still a team with a multitude of problems in terms of roster construction, lack of depth, and so on. As many others and I have said before about this season, winning isn’t and should never be the goal.

Perhaps the biggest reason outside of developing young players and trying to hold onto the 2016 first-round draft pick for not trying to win games is the simple fact that this team really isn’t in a position to win many games. They are vulnerable to take an L on any given night and the road trip only further confirmed that.
