Nick Young: C-3PO

Contrary to what Nance Jr. may thing about Swaggy P, he’s not as detrimental to the Lakers as Jar Jar Binks was to the Star Wars franchise. If the rookie and Young have that kind of beef, they definitely need to work it out; saying someone is the Jar Jar of anything is one of the dastardliest insults imaginable.

That being said, Young is very akin to C-3PO in the Star Wars franchise. For one, 3PO was essential to all six of the films that had been made because of his comic relief. I think that all Lakers fans could agree that the last two seasons would have been much more difficult to struggle through if Swaggy P hadn’t been around to provide the entertainment of his usual antics.

However, he’s also like the protocol droid from the films because of the fact that, despite his entertainment value and the usable skills that he does have, he’s not 100 percent essential to the plight of the heroes. He has a role, but he’s not the one out here slaying overlords or anything. That’s certainly similar to the role that Young plays for the Lakers right now as a player capable of providing some things on a nightly basis, but that ultimately doesn’t figure into the future of the Lakers. If there were Ewoks in LA, they would also probably think of Swaggy P as a deity as well.
