Byron Scott: Chancellor Palpatine/Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious

From Episode I (Phantom Menace) to Episodes VI (Return of the Jedi) in the Star Wars narrative, Chancellor Palpatine is the root of all of the evil going on in the republic and ultimately leads to the downfall of the system and the rise of Darth Vader. He has always been Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord consumed and motivated by the dark side. Of course, Lakers head coach Byron Scott is the only logical comparison for the Emperor.

It seems like every decision that Scott makes this season ultimately undermines the ultimate goal of the Lakers this season. Whether that’s the demotion of young players who are supposed to develop into the core for the future or just simply not understanding what the rotations for this team should look like, Scott more often than not appears to be the evil that the Lakers universe can’t rid themselves of.

While his intentions may not be as evil as the Emperor’s, it’s the results of the actions that matter when it comes to Scott. Though he’s not alone, his actions are ultimately evil for the Lakers and will only lead the team to the dark side if they buy into his mismanagement and archaic lines of thinking.
