20. George Mikan
If you have a game in which you 61 points, and allegedly 36 rebounds, it is extremely nonsensical to keep you out of the Top 50 Lakers of all time.
George Mikan played seven seasons in the NBA, all with the Minneapolis Lakers from 1948-1956 and in his time he was a monster.
Lakers fans boast of housing some of the best big men of all time, normally including Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal, but it was actually George Mikan who set the table for these big men.
Averaging 23.1 points and 13.4 rebounds a game, 28.4 and 28.3 ppg in his best seasons, Mikan was a walking double-double.
In addition to putting up big numbers, Mikan also has the jewelry to show for it, winning four championships in seven seasons.
Similar to the rule changes made for Kareem, according to NBA.com, the rules were changed for Mikan as well.
"Mikan was so hard to defend and to score against, in fact, that the NBA had to change its rules of play in order to keep him from completely overwhelming the league."
Dominant big men are a dying breed in the current state of the NBA, and it will be interesting to see how the league adapts when the next transcendental big man hits the scene.
