17. Robert Horry
Robert Horry has seven NBA Championships. I repeat, Robert Horry has seven NBA Championships, ironically ranking him tied for seventh all time in that category.
This ranks him above the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6), Michael Jordan (6), Magic Johnson (5), Kobe Bryant (5) and Tim Duncan (5). Sure, he was never the star of any of these teams, but he played a crucial role in most, if not all, of their championship success.
Starting his storied career in Houston then Phoenix, ultimately landing on the Los Angeles Lakers toward the end of his fifth season in the NBA, they don’t call him “Big Shot Rob” for nothing.
If you take a look at Horry’s career numbers, they are not impressive by any means, but unless you watched him play or “read a paper or something,” that you would be able to realize the impact that he had on his teams.
It would be different if Robert Horry made one clutch shot for one team, but Horry made a career of it, doing so for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs later in his career. Known as a slasher at the beginning of his career, it is interesting that his clutch spot up shooting was ultimately responsible for his claim to fame.
