8. Wilt Chamberlain

You can only deny the greatness that is Wilt Chamberlain for so long.

While it is difficult to include Wilt Chamberlain in the top ten greatest players in Lakers’ franchise history considering that he actually played on four different NBA teams include the Lakers, at the end of the day, he’ still Wilt Chamberlain.

In his prime, he was the only one who held a flame to the legendary Boston Celtic, Bill Russell, and still holds some of the most insane records to date.

Per se, Wilt the Stilt will go down as the only player, likely ever, to score 100 points in an NBA game. When it is all said and done, he will also likely go down as the player with: the highest point per game total in a season (50.4), most consecutive 50 point games (7 games in 1961, 6 games in 1962, and 5 games in 1961 and 1962) and most rebounds in one contest (55).

Though many of these achievements were while Wilt Chamberlain was on teams other than the Lakers, he still managed to average 19.3 points, 19.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists at the end of career in Los Angeles.

He was also a key contributor to the Lakers league record, 33-game win streak, the very same season they won his only NBA Championship with the Purple and Gold.

Historically, it is amazing how many of the best big men in the league the Lakers were ultimately able to snag.
