Roster Similarities

This should come as no surprise considering that since observing the Warriors success with small ball lineups, almost every NBA front office has thought about or actually tried to duplicate their roster.

The problem remains, you’re probably never going to find a core of players not only with the skill set of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green or Klay Thompson, but players who are also as unselfish as they are.

That said, the Lakers will be damned if they didn’t try.

  1. The Lakers want Julius Randle to play like Draymond Green. Faux-Green, check.
  2. The Lakers are praying that D’Angelo Russell lives up to his Stephen Curry comparison. Faux-Curry, check.
  3. In a year hopefully the front office can use nostalgia and green to seduce Luke Walton away from the Warriors. Faux-Steve Kerr, check.
  4. Even now, despite Byron Scott’s best efforts, the Lakers are clawing and fighting to become a young, small ball centered team. Small ball, check.

Do you think the Lakers have Warriors 2.0 ever on the mind? Yes, they absolutely do.

Again, the one thing that will make or break their best effort isn’t finding players with the versatility of Green, the poise of Curry and the shooting prowess of Klay, but instead finding players who understand “The Secret.”
