2. Ryan Kelly Is Doing the Opposite of What Bass Is Doing

Along with Bass in the Lakers rotation against the Kings without Nance being active, Ryan Kelly again saw an increase in his minutes off of the bench. And where Bass was out there boosting his potential trade value and establishing that he can still contribute as a veteran big man in this league, Kelly was left floundering in his time on the floor.

The first thing anyone is going to remember from this game on either side is that Kelly got absolutely mashed on by Rajon Rondo. Getting dunked on isn’t a pleasant or good experience when it happens at the hands of anyone, but to have a guard that’s past his athletic prime and isn’t really known for that type of play anymore—never mind that Kelly also has a tremendous size advantage—throw it down on you is just embarrassing.

Make no mistake that there was no reason to expect much from Kelly at all this season. However, fans had to at least hope that he could do some positive things when he did see time on the floor to make him mildly attractive as a throw-in piece on the trade market. As of now, he’s eve failing to do that.
