Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves – March 18, 2007

Yet another game from the era where it was Kobe having a big game or the Lakers losing, Kobe had a couple of monster outings against the Minnesota Timberwolves in March of the 2006-07 season. However, considering that one of those games was a win and the other was a losing effort pushes the big outing in the victory ahead of the other, even if the numbers in the losing effort may have been a bit better. Still, it’s hard to scoff at a 50-point game.

In 45 minutes of action for Kobe, the Lakers legend put up those 50 points on solid 17-35 shooting from the field and with 4-9 shooting from three-point range. Moreover, Kobe put up three assists, six rebounds, and three steals. Though other players weren’t awful for the Lakers on a rare instance for that era, it was Kobe that had to step up to carry his team to a victory.

Again, it’s games like this that are just unreal. That he was going into every game at this time with defenses knowing he was going to have to play at this level for the Lakers to win and that he could still do it is unfathomable.
