2. Points 42-43; 5:48 Remaining, 3rd Quarter
For any other player in any other situation to take this shot would most likely get him benched. This is a terribly inefficient shot as Kobe is not even faced up at the rim on the baseline when he rises up to shoot. However, one of the things that Kobe was able to do so well in his prime was to get up enough on his jump shot and face up with the rim so that he wasn’t just throwing junk up at the rim. So even when the Raptors were literally bodying him up on the perimeter, Bryant was still able to make something happen.
1. Points 18-19; 3:08 Remaining, 2nd Quarter
The best two points out of the 81 that Kobe scored against the Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006 were the most emphatic of them all. For starters, he shows tremendous burst to get by the defense off the screen when attacking from the top of the key, which can’t be understated. Then of course comes the finish when he just takes off and hammers it home with tremendous power with one hand while also again avoiding Bonner trying his best to protect the rim. While he knocked down jumper after jumper on this special occasion, it’s a dunk that was his most impressive score of the outing.
