Andre Ingram – D-League 3-Point Contest

Andre Ingram is one of the most humble basketball players out there. When the 30-year-old, 6-3 guard talked about himself and his accomplishments from beyond the arc, i wasn’t easy for him. He tends to put his teammates first. Ingram drilled four three-pointers in the contest against the Vipers to total 52 made threes in 28 games.

The first thoughts that came to Ingram’s mind when he heard the news that he’d be in the D-League 3-Point Contest only further showed his humility. “I was just, honestly, I felt blessed. It’s just been a wonderful season and I was glad the league took notice of it,” he said. “I was excited when they called me, and I was just thankful. It wasn’t my goal coming into the season to get into the 3-Point Contest, but I wanted it.”

Ingram isn’t going into the contest cold. On his training, Ingram said, “My teammates and coaches, they help me out a little bit. We use the racks we got here, which aren’t the same racks we will be using, but we did a little practice right out here I enjoyed it.” Would he get practice at the All-star facility? “I am assuming they’ll give you a 30-minute period to use the racks and kind of get a feel for it.”

The consummate teammate, Ingram is not only looking forward to competing, but he is also looking forward to being courtside for his fellow D-Fenders. “I’m really excited to see Harper and Blue, my teammates, in the All-Star Game because I know how hard they are going to cheer for me in the 3-Point Contest,” said Ingram.

About the game against the Vipers and how their team kept their cool throughout the matchup, “We’ve been jelling. We’re coming together pretty good here. We just want to keep that energy. Our coach uses the term ‘bottle it’ about our energy, so that works.”
