Are the Lakers going to retire both number 8 and 24 for Kobe Bryant? It sure looks that way
Earlier in the season, when asked about which number the Los Angeles Lakers were going to retire for Kobe Bryant, general manager Mitch Kupchak claimed he “didn’t know the answer,” but it “could be both.”
Fast forward three months and that seems to be exactly the case on the eve of the Black Mamba’s last game.

Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers official Instagram page posted a photo of the hardwood floor that LA would be using on April 13 and it featured both the number 8 and 24.
If we are being completely honest, this should come as no surprise, as it is doubtful that any player would be bold enough to come onto the Lakers and wear either of the numbers Kobe made famous.
That said, there is no official word from the Lakers front office whether or not LA is actually retiring both, or just featuring the two numbers to honor Kobe in his last game. However, it seems more likely that the former is true.
