. SF/PF. International. Juan Hernangomez. 29. player. 29

We’ve seen the San Antonio Spurs picking late in the first round of the NBA Draft time and again over the years as they’ve built their dynasty. As such, one of the things we’ve seen them do on numerous occasions take an international prospect with a lot of upside. In turn, they stash the player overseas to continue developing and then bring him over at a time when he’s capable of contributing. Looking at the prospects on the board at No. 29, that seems like the likely course of action again and Juan Hernangomez is a fantastic prospect to do so with.

St. Joe’s. DeAndre Bembry. 30. player. 41. . SF

There always seems to be a player taken late in every draft that winds up being too quality of an asset in the NBA to have been selected where they were. I have a feeling that DeAndre Bembry out of Saint Joseph’s is going to be one of those players.

As the Golden State Warriors might have to move on from Harrison Barnes as the forward becomes a coveted free agent this summer, bringing in a rookie forward like DeAndre Bembry to help soften the blow seems like a wise, calculated course of action. Considering that’s the way the Warriors have operated as of late, he feels like the only logical choice to wrap up the first round.

As a bonus, the Lakers also have the No. 32 pick. Though there are plenty of talented prospects left on the board and some with great upside, I’d have to go with Malcolm Brogdon out of Virginia as the logical option. On the wing, he’s a two-way player that can affect the game in a number of ways and is just the type of guy that would help Los Angeles in their backcourt as the rebuilding process wears on.
